It takes roughly the first 25 years of life for the human brain to mature to its maximum size. Its wiring continues to evolve into our later years, adapting and learning through life. The first years of life help form the foundation for healthy physical, emotional, mental and social functioning. So a brain and nervous system that can experience safety, variety, individuation and love will have a much stronger foundation than a brain and nervous system that grows up in survival mode. We address challenges that your child might be dealing with such as brain hemisphericity, decreased brain/gut communication, and general physical, emotional, mental and social stresses.
How can you help my child?
A child’s brain and nervous system undergo tremendous growth and development throughout childhood and adolescence. While the brain continues to adapt and learn throughout life, the early years play a particularly important role in building the foundation for healthy physical, emotional, mental, and social development.
Children thrive when their nervous systems experience environments that promote safety, connection, exploration, and healthy challenges. These experiences help support the development of resilience, emotional regulation, learning, and overall well-being.
When a child’s nervous system is under ongoing stress, it can affect how they process and respond to the world around them. This may show up in a variety of ways, including challenges with focus, emotional regulation, sleep, digestion, behaviour, learning, or coping with everyday stressors.
Our approach focuses on supporting healthy nervous system function and development. We work with children experiencing a wide range of physical, emotional, mental, and social challenges by helping improve communication and coordination within the brain and body.
Areas we commonly focus on include:
- Supporting healthy nervous system development
- Improving brain-body communication
- Enhancing brain-gut communication and function
- Promoting balance and coordination between different areas of the brain
- Helping children better adapt to physical, emotional, and environmental stressors
- Supporting focus, learning, emotional regulation, and resilience
Our goal is to help create the conditions that allow your child’s brain and nervous system to develop, adapt, and function at their best—providing a stronger foundation for lifelong health, learning, and well-being.
For the rest of July and August this year, we’re offering complimentary spinal and nervous system screenings for children under 18. This is not a comprehensive neuro-adaptive examination, however it does provide a backpack check, a neurological screening and a spinal check-up. These are all designed to provide parents with insights into their child’s growth and development and subsequent performance at school.
