A word about the Happy Spine

Dr. TonyNSA

Sometimes patients will ask me where I got the name “The Happy Spine”. Well I can tell you, I got the idea years ago, while I was seeing a patient. I was just finishing Bill’s session with him. He was sitting on the table and I was behind him checking his spine.

If there are obstructions in the spine, there’s a lack of health. You can have bones out of place or tension on muscles, joints and nerves along with a lack of ease.

After the session, I could feel that he was present in his body and that his spine was feeling optimal. The structure of Bill’s spine felt that the bones, joints and discs, along with the muscles, nerves and spinal cord were feeling aligned with ease.

So I said to him “now that’s a happy spine!” And he agreed.

The interesting thing about the word “happy” is that we often think about happiness as being that feeling when we get what we want. Like a toddler putting a box of sugary cereal in the shopping cart in spite of the parent’s protest. But that’s not happiness, that’s gratification.

Having a happy spine means having a spine and nervous system free of obstructions. When you have less obstructions, you have more health: more life force, more spirit, more access to your gifts and talents to create the life you want and more capacity to be present with yourself and others.

When you have a happy spine, you also have more capacity to deal with stress. Instead of setting up your life so that you can only have peaceful conversations with only people that like you, with as little conflict as possible, you can use all that energy to create a life that you deserve.

Happiness is a byproduct of self-awareness, personal transformation and self-actualization. And a key part of all three of these is a spine that’s free of obstructions, a happy spine.
